Europol Director honoured by the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior

During a visit to Bulgaria last week, the Director of Europol, Rob Wainwright, expressed his satisfaction with the Bulgarian authorities’ results in tackling organised crime through increased operational cooperation with Europol and its law enforcement partners.

During the working visit, meetings were held with the Minister of Interior, Mr Tsvetlin Yovchev; the Prosecutor general, Mr Sotir Tsatsarov; and the Chairperson of the State Agency for National Security (SANS), Mr Vladimir Pisanchev.

Practical steps were discussed for further enhancing cooperation with Europol to investigate the activities of criminal organisations in Bulgaria and in other EU Member States. During the visit, Bulgaria’s Minister of Interior awarded Mr Wainwright with the highest Bulgarian law enforcement award - the ‘First Degree Valour and Merit Insignia of Honour’.
