Europol and EURid, the European Commission-appointed internet registry manager for .eu domains, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Europol’s headquarters in The Hague on 20 December 2016. The scope of this cooperation is to engage in joint efforts related to fighting cybercrime, to exchange statistical data and trends pertaining to cybercrime, and to commit to cooperate on projects designed to combat cybercrime. EURid place a large degree of focus on thorough verification of their registrars and the development of anti-abuse systems. They have also shown a strong willingness to work with law enforcement, including having a significant role in a number of domain takedowns. This form of cooperation is essential in order to effectively mitigate the impact cyberattacks have on targets and victims. After developing a working partnership with Belgian law enforcement, EURid looks forward to establishing and enhancing its cooperation with Europol. http://www.eurid.eu
